Oasis’ ‘90s classic “Wonderwall” is back on Billboard Hot 100 for the first time since 1996, sparked by its usage by fans of the English men’s team during the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The song reenters the chart (dated July 25) at No. 27, led by 8.7 million chart-eligible U.S. streams July 10-16, according to data tracker Luminate — a 73% surge week over week. It also totaled 2.2 million in all-format radio audience, up 41%, and 1,000 downloads sold, up 112%.

As previously reported, the song bounds 26-4 on the Billboard Global 200 and 21-4 on Billboard Global Excl. U.S., netting gains of 64% to 35 million streams and 78% to 4,000 sold worldwide.

After matches during England’s World Cup run (which ended July 15), fans serenaded the club with the song, among other new spotlights for it.

The single originally hit No. 8 on the Hot 100 in 1996, wrapping its 20-week run that June, prior to its return this week. The band had last appeared on the chart for a week in October 2008 with the No. 93-peaking “The Shock of the Lightning.”

Oasis has earned six top 10s on Billboard’s Alternative Airplay chart: “Live Forever” (No. 2, 1995), “Wonderwall” (No. 1 for 10 weeks, 1995-96), “Champagne Supernova” (No. 1, five weeks, 1996), “Don’t Look Back in Anger” (No. 10, 1996), “D’You Know What I Mean?” (No. 4, 1997) and “Don’t Go Away” (No. 5, 1997).

On the Billboard 200, Oasis boasts three top 10s: “Wonderwall” parent album (What’s the Story) Morning Glory? (No. 4, 1996), Be Here Now (No. 2, 1997) and Dig Out Your Soul (No. 5, 2008).

Following its early ‘90s formation, Oasis split in 2009 before reuniting in 2024. The new buzz for “Wonderwall” continues a banner year for the band, which in April was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Plus, on July 4, the first official trailer premiered for Don’t Look Back in Anger, the documentary chronicling the group’s reunion and its Live ’25 comeback tour. The film is due in theaters and IMAX cinemas Sept. 11, before streaming globally later this year on Disney+ and Hulu in the U.S.

To date, “Wonderwall” has totaled 1.5 billion official U.S. streams, 1.7 billion in radio reach and 2.9 million in download sales.

Oasis has likewise enjoyed the resurgence of its signature song. Following the club’s World Cup win over Croatia on June 17, the band’s Noel Gallagher told The Sun, “‘Wonderwall’ belongs to the people, and it was a magical moment between the people and the players.”
