On behalf of the Government of the United States of America, I congratulate the Romanian people on the 99th anniversary of the creation of modern Romania.
The United States is grateful for our strategic partnership of twenty years and Romania’s cooperation in furthering our shared goals of prosperity, security, and democracy. We welcome our expanding bilateral trade relationship which has fostered mutual economic growth and significantly increased business ties. The United States also salutes Romania as a dedicated ally committed to upholding regional and global security. Romania’s commitment to meeting its NATO obligations and its continued participation in the international effort to bring peace and stability to Afghanistan and Iraq are especially notable.
The United States joins all Romanians in celebrating this historic day and re-affirming the democratic freedoms that inspired the founding of both our nations.
