When LeBron James opted to sign with the Philadelphia 76ers for the final stage of his legendary NBA career, there were obvious questions about what that meant for his son, Bronny James.
And there are some sites that are taking advantage of those questions.

Bronny was drafted by the Lakers in the second round in 2024 despite playing sparingly in one season at USC amid suffering cardiac arrest. The learning curve was always going to be steep for Bronny in the NBA, and LeBron’s presence on the Lakers was the driving force behind Bronny ending up in Los Angeles.
But Bronny is still under contract with the Lakers and has not been traded.
Why are headlines claiming Bronny has been traded?
The website, TotalProSports, created a “trade proposal” blog but crafted a headline as if it was reporting a real trade. But the trade in question was total fiction.

By claiming that Bronny landed with the Sixers in a “blockbuster three-team trade,” TotalProSports was able to fool search algorithms and use syndication agreements (such as with Yahoo! Sports) to its advantage and get prominent placement.

It’s a shady headline practice that is closer to lying than it is to creating content in good faith.
