Skip Bayless is known for his fiery and no holds barred takes on different topics in the sports world. He posted his take on X on Monday about the Oklahoma City Thunder’s decision not to trade Chet Holmgren. The Milwaukee Bucks will reportedly move Giannis Antetokounmpo ahead of the NBA Draft. The veteran sports analyst believes the 2025 champions made the right move.
Holmgren earned his first All-Star nod this past season and helped his team reach the Western Conference Finals. While the franchise failed to defend its title, the 7-foot-1 center anchored the team’s interior defense.

Bayless highlighted that Holmgren is only 24 years old and that trading him would affect Oklahoma City’s chemistry. The TV personality added that he believes the Thunder could’ve defeated the San Antonio Spurs with a healthy roster.
“I’ve been asked why OKC wouldn’t trade Chet and picks for Giannis? OKC did win a chip w Chet. He is an All-Star vs everyone (including NY) but Wemby. He’s 8 yrs younger than Giannis, who would disrupt OKC’s “college” unity, SGA focus. OKC would’ve beaten Wemby w healthy Dub/Ajay,” Bayless wrote.

However, Victor Wembanyama outplayed him in the WCF. While Antetokoumpo’s star power and experience will boost the Thunder, Bayless cited some valid points. With another NBA season under his belt, Holmgren could take a bigger step forward in 2026-27.
