The Indianapolis Colts signed punter Rigoberto Sanchez to a contract extension, the team announced Thursday.
Sanchez’s deal is a two-year pact, per league sources, that will keep Sanchez under contract through the 2028 season.
Sanchez, who was entering the final year of a three-year, $7.5 million deal, joined the Colts as an undrafted free agent in 2017. Since then, the 31-year-old has become one of the premier punters in the NFL.
Sanchez had a cancerous tumor removed in 2020 and tore his Achilles in 2022, but he’s bounced back tremendously. Last year, he set the Colts single-season record with 44.7 net yards per punt.
In addition to his on-field performance, Sanchez is widely respected throughout the locker room for his humility and dedication.
