Ecuador have been strange at this World Cup. They are, broadly, incredibly sound defensively. Yet because of match circumstances, they seem to have spent 90 per cent of this tournament frantically attacking.
It’s not their strong suit, it’s fair to say, but they pulled a rabbit out of the hat against Germany.
