Grand Theft Auto 6 will reportedly be a lot more grounded and realistic than the chaotic playground of Grand Theft Auto 5.
Later today (August 27), Rockstar Games will share an extended look at Grand Theft Auto 6 via Netflix ahead of the game’s launch on November 19. Last night, a new interview with several Rockstar Games developers was shared by Dazed.
As part of the feature, it was suggested that Grand Theft Auto 6 will be a lot more realistic than previous entries in the series. The game will feature “all the weapons and supercars you’d expect, but the world is more grounded and reactive than before,” wrote Dazed, with Rockstar Games wanting to create a “world of total immersion, which reacts more realistically than ever to what you choose to make of it.” That means if you walk through the streets of Vice City with a massive rifle, you’ll get in trouble for it.
After years of anticipation, Grand Theft Auto VI is nearly here.
In their first print appearance globally, the game’s protagonists Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos cover the New Idols issue with Dazed.

“We look back at our previous games with a critical eye and see where we want to evolve based on what we didn’t do as well as we would have liked to, either because we didn’t have the time, resources or technological capabilities, or in some cases things we just didn’t do as well or consider as fully as we could have,” explained Rockstar North co-studio head Rob Nelson. “A lot of what we do is very iterative – we adjust a lot of things by feel based on what is working and what isn’t.”
As part of their attempt to make Grand Theft Auto 6 as realistic as possible, dual protagonists Lucia and Jason’s appearances will change depending on what they eat, if they work out in the in-game gyms or if they’re getting enough sleep. “The thing we love about this medium is the way these characters aren’t empty avatars that you can do whatever you want with,” added Nelson. “Their story becomes a journey you share with them. We want to enable as much self-expression as possible without losing the essence of the characters.”
Yesterday, Rockstar Game shared a rare public message on social media to apologise about the 13 year wait since Grand Theft Auto 5 and to address a series of gameplay leaks that have been shared online in recent days. “It would be an understatement to say that having videos of Grand Theft Auto 6 gameplay leak in this way has been heartbreaking for our team, and this is obviously not how we intended for you to see the game after all this time.”
