England finally got on the board just before half-time thanks to captain Harry Kane but that was a poor first half from them in Tampa. Are they struggling with the heat?
Kane got his head to a lovely Djed Spence cross, after earlier in the half being denied by a brilliant Max Crocombe save.
That is Kane’s 67th goal for club and country this season, insane numbers. But Thomas Tuchel will want much more than a single goal in the second half.
At the other end Peterborough United’s Matt Garbett proved the biggest threat to Jordan Pickford’s goal in the opening stanza, the Everton keeper getting down low to his left to turn a shot around the post just before the half-hour mark.
With Tuchel opting for two up top in an attacking line-up, the lack of goals will be frustrating.
They would have expected to do better against team that were beaten handily by Haiti 4-0 in their previous outing.
14 shots for England in the first half, only three on target. Must do better. Bring on the half-time changes.
