Bears news: Ben Johnson wants to break all-time scoring record, so what are odds after 59-point Week 1? appeared first on ClutchPoints. Add ClutchPoints as a Preferred Source by clicking here.

The Chicago Bears put on a historic show during their season opener. Chicago scored a whopping 59 points in Week 1 against Carolina, starting the season with a bang. Bears head coach Ben Johnson wants his team to beat the NFL’s all-time scoring record this season. The odds of that happening are greater than ever before after that historic Week 1 performance.

Chicago has +600 odds to break the league’s all-time scoring record during the 2026 season, per BetOnline. The Bears also have +250 odds to lead the NFL in scoring this season.

The 2013 Denver Broncos currently hold the record with 606 points scored during the regular season. That breaks down to 37.875 points per game during a 16-game season. Now the NFL has a 17-game regular season, so the Bears only need to average 35.65 points per game to tie the record. Anything above that will set a new record.

Suddenly the narrative that Chicago will regress during the 2026 season looks completely ridiculous. If the Bears can score 59 points against a solid Panthers defense, then they can hang with anybody. It should be no surprise that Bears QB Caleb Williams saw his MVP odds skyrocket after Week 1 as a result.

It is great to see that Johnson is able to get these impressive outings out of his team. But Johnson also has a way of getting everyone back down to earth. He gave the perfect answer when asked if Chicago would be complacent after their huge season opener.

“We haven’t score any points this week,” Johnson replied, per CHGO Bears.

It will be fascinating to see if these odds change drastically after Week 2. Especially with Chicago going up against one of the most feared defense in the NFL.

Next up for the Bears is a Week 2 matchup against the Vikings. That NFC North showdown kicks off at 1PM ET on September 20th from Soldier Field in Chicago.
