FC Barcelona have told Manchester United they want to pay a sum for Marcus Rashford that is just half of the buy option fee cited in his loan deal according to the Daily Mail and SPORT, which cited anonymous sources.
The English newspaper explains that Barca want to make a bid of $17.4 million (€15 million) for Rashford, which will ultimately be rejeced by the Red Devils.

When the La Liga champions agreed to take on Rashford last summer for the 2025/2026 season, a $35 million (€30 million) buy option was inserted into his terms.
That expires on June 15, and the Daily Mail suggests that the Blaugrana could wait until after that date to make a low-ball offer, or another proposal to take him on an additional 12 month temporary assignment.
Rashford wants to stay at the Spotify Camp Nou where he’s settled, but United can do business with whomever they wish. If the England international has a good World Cup with the Three Lions, European rivals can come in for the 28-year-old and offer United its asking price or even more considering his stock will have risen.
If neither Barca nor another outfit take Rashford, he’s set to start a preseason camp in Manchester after England’s World Cup campaign has concluded.

When Barca signed Anthony Gordon for $93 million (€80 million), questions were immediately raised as to whether the two left wingers can co-exist in Hansi Flick’s squad considering there’s also Raphinha to think about.
Rashford’s camp aren’t worried about Gordon because they knew Deco and Co. would go after the former Newcastle United man. Yet while they primarily operate on the same flank for club and country, Rashford offers other qualities elsewhere.
We saw him on the right towards the back end of the recently concluded season, where he won the league for the first time in his career. Rashford provided a wonderful assist for Robert Lewandowski with a cross the Pole headed home against Alaves, and can be an alternative to Lamine Yamal there.

At a time when Barcelona is battling to land Julian Alvarez, Rashford can be a central front man too. The club has reportedly agreed terms with the Argentine, but getting Atletico Madrid to accept an offer of $116 million (€100 million) for him is a different matter entirely.
