On October 18, Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding (Group) Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC), along with China Shipbuilding Trading Co., Ltd., signed a contract in Shanghai with Seaspan Corporation, the world’s largest independent container ship leasing company based in Canada, for the construction of six independently developed 13,600 TEU large container ships.
This marks the third batch of a total of 15 large container ship orders the company has received this year, and it is the first time the contract will be settled in RMB. With this, Hudong-Zhonghua has now secured orders for more than 100 large and ultra-large container ships, placing it among the leading global shipyards.
