Everyone’s home, in the economic and tourism fields, Durango Mayor, Toño Ochoa and the Los Angeles Latino Chamber of Commerce signed a historic agreement that will boost commercial collaboration and promote the development of the city in these areas sectors.

Valeria Gutiérrez, director of Economic Development and Tourism, added that Durango is a peaceful, orderly city full of potential for large projects, inviting entrepreneurs to discover everything the city has to offer.

The recent Los Angeles Latino Chamber of Commerce U.S. Delegation Trade Mission to Durango, Mexico was marked by a series of productive engagements and promising outcomes. The delegation, led by members from both the LALCC and key industry sectors, aimed to strengthen bilateral collaboration and business opportunities in Durango.

“Los Angeles as chambers, as businessmen and as a community, is preparing for three important events, one of them is the FIFA Soccer World Cup, 2026 which will host games in LA, there is also the NFL Superbowl in 2027 and the third is the Olympics 2028.

In this preparation that takes a certain amount of time and certain procedures, we are joining together to be able to be local suppliers of these three important events, that we can export and that we have the necessary certifications and permits to do them,” expressed. Valeria Gutiérrez, director of Economic Development and Tourism.

Key highlights of the trip included:

  • Bilateral Collaboration: The delegation engaged in high-level meetings with Durango’s government leaders, chambers of commerce, trade associations and business executives, resulting in the signing of a Bilateral Collaboration agreement between the LALCC and Durango. As well as several new trade and investment opportunities. The agreement is expected to foment business opportunities, impulse economic growth, and job creation in both countries.
  • Strategic Meetings: Discussions centered on expanding cooperation in sectors such as technology, energy, and infrastructure. Notable initiatives include joint ventures in renewable energy projects and advancements in technology exchange programs.
  • Events: The trip featured events designed to foster deeper mutual understanding and develop opportunities to collaborate with trade associations and chambers of commerce.
  • Security: The delegation had a opportunity to discuss security concerns and tour Durango’s security systems. This included discussing protocols for policing and resources used for security.
  • Environmental Initiatives: Durango’s government has an environmental conservation strategy for the projects currently in the planning stages and or in the development stages, including efforts to tackle climate change and protect biodiversity.
