On Saturday, July 20, the Consulate General of Mexico in Los Angeles hold a Saturday civil registry day. This event was intended for the review of documents prior to the process of registering the birth of children of Mexicans born abroad, commonly known as “dual nationality”.

On this occasion, the event info in the community was possible in collaboration with the office of the Councilwoman of District 1 of the city of Los Angeles, Eunisses Hernández, who has supported the dissemination of this important service among the population of Mexican origin that resides in her district.
Eunisses Hernandez is a community organizer, a daughter of Mexican immigrants, and a lifelong District 1 resident. Born and raised in Highland Park, she led campaigns, coalitions, and commissions that transformed local and statewide policy before running for City Council in 2021. Since taking office in December 2022, Councilmember Hernandez has prioritized a Care First agenda that focuses on investing in community care, workforce development, social services, and harm-reduction programs that help make our neighborhoods safer and healthier places for all Angelenos.
Hugo Soto, LA City Council of District 13, will also was present.
Hugo Soto-Martínez was born and raised in Los Angeles. His parents immigrated here and worked as street vendors for most of his life to give Hugo and his five siblings more opportunities than they had in Mexico. After his dad became disabled, Hugo started working at a non-union hotel at the age of 16 to help out his family. Shortly before graduating college, he joined with his coworkers to form a union – earning better working conditions and respect on the job.
