Minister Ng congratulated Minister Galdo Marín on her recent appointment to Cabinet and discuss shared trade priorities. The ministers issued a joint statement to mark the 15th anniversary of the Canada-Peru Free Trade Agreement as well as 80 years of diplomatic relations between the 2 countries.
Minister Ng highlighted the strong trade relationship between Canada and Peru, thanks to our free trade agreements. The ministers also spoke about opportunities for more collaboration in mining, agriculture, and infrastructure.
They committed to working together to advance inclusive trade, including through the Global Trade and Gender Arrangement. Minister Ng also communicated Canada’s support for Peru throughout as the host of APEC this year. She also welcomed Peru’s support for Canada as this year’s Chair of the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) Commission
