Overnight firefighters continued to provide structure defense with ground crews as
well as providing aerial fire suppression. Today, hot air temperatures in the 90s to
100s, lower relative humidities, and drying fuels will bring elevated fire weather
conditions to the Lake Fire.
Extreme and aggressive fire behavior influenced by steep
topography, with spotting and rapid fire growth are expected. The Fire is actively
burning in an area where the fire history is nearly 100 years old. Current objectives
include keeping the fire North of Castaic Lake, South of Highway 138, East of Red Rock
Mountain, and West of Tule Ridge. Damage assessment teams have confirmed 3
structures have been destroyed on their intial assessment.
