A/S STILWELL: Minna-san, Konnichi-wa! I’m really happy to be back in Japan. I think if you look at my bio, it’s almost exactly nine years ago I left Misawa as the wing commander, so it’s a good chance to get back in a new capacity. I look forward to building on the Alliance as the cornerstone of peace, security, and prosperity here in the Asia-Pacific.
This is my first trip, the first time I’m traveling in this new job. I’ve been in this job for about three weeks, and I was eager to get to Japan. So this is the first stop on the first trip – for about two weeks on the road.
I look forward to some interaction with senior Japanese officials, understanding where we sit today in the free and open Indo-Pacific strategy, as well as discussing topics like Iran and North Korea.
My daughter is attending Keio University this semester, and she’s waiting for me at the Okura Hotel, so if you’ll excuse me, I want to go meet my daughter, but I look forward to interacting with the media in the future. Thank you.
