Over the weekend, America lost a true patriot, public servant, and champion of national service. Senator John McCain worked for decades to expand opportunities for Americans to serve and believed that service could take many forms. He encouraged Americans to make an impact in their communities through AmeriCorps and Senior Corps and sponsored legislation to make it a reality. Senator McCain’s lifelong devotion to service will forever be an inspiration to all of us who choose to serve and the entire national service family will deeply miss him. Our hearts go out to his family and loved ones.
