Geneva (IOM) – Using cutting edge virtual reality technology, IOM has launched an exhibition that enables viewers to inhabit the world of internally displaced people. In recognition of the twentieth anniversary of the 1998 Guiding Principles on Displacement. One of the exhibition tells the story of Hannatu, (pictured above behind IOM’s Director General Swing). Hannatu tells how when Boko Haram invaded her home in Baga, Nigeria, she fled into the bush. She found a t-shirt which she says helped save her life. The exhibition explains her story in immersive 3D video. Click this link here to see on your computer or better still on a VR headset.

The exhibition tells the story of IDPs from five continents and the items they hold precious which helped them through their ordeals
