LOS ANGELES – SEPTEMBER 21, 2017 – Southern California’s four-time world boxing champion Abner Mares will host an open media workout at the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Century Boxing Gym on Thursday, Sept 28th from 1 to 3 p.m.
The workout is in advance of Mares’ bout against Andres Gutierrez (Guadalajara, MX) – a ‘Fight for my Community’/’Peleando por mi Comunidad’ at Stubhub Center in Carson, CA on a show presented by Premier Boxing Champions live on FOX and FOX Deportes on Saturday, October 14. Televised coverage begins at 7:30 p.m. ET/4:30 p.m. PT.
Mares is boxing’s current WBA World Featherweight Champion and former three division world champion. Also on the fight card at Stubhub is three-division world champion Leo “El Terremoto” Santa Cruz who will defend his featherweight world title against Chris Avalos. If Santa Cruz and Mares win their respective matches, they have both agreed to terms to meet in a highly anticipated rematch for the WBA featherweight title in early 2018.
