BEVERLY HILLS, Calif., June 26, 2017 /PRNewswire/ — Dan Mintz’s DMG Entertainment announced today the launch of DMG Esports with a significant investment in and strategic partnership with Super League Gaming, the #1 amateur esports league and platform providing accessible esports competitions, content, and social interactions to gamers across the globe.
“Our inspiration for DMG Esports comes from the extraordinarily committed esports fans and community. Their stories drive our unique point-of-view on the industry allowing our strengths in entertainment and technology to deliver fresh and compelling experiences,” said Mintz. “Partnering with an industry leader like SLG, allows us to open up the world of esports to everyone, not just the pros.”
DMG Esports will be integrated across all of DMG’s divisions, including film, gaming, VR, and location-based entertainment, focused on exciting storytelling and touchpoints targeting fans across the world. The investment and partnership with Super League Gaming is the first initiative of a broader overall global strategy for DMG Esports.
DMG and Super League Gaming will combine forces to grow the nascent but potent league, expanding accessible esports for amateur gamers, which already includes 12 official city teams in the United States. China is one of the many significant components for Super League Gaming, which will expand the league later this year in key cities including Beijing and Shanghai and will foster championship matches between all teams globally. DMG’s global entertainment arm will be on full force to promote and work closely with Super League Gaming to develop exciting and compelling content including narrative stand-alone episodes, behind-the-scenes and interstitial content for distribution across the world.
“We are thrilled to be working with a tremendous global partner like DMG as we continue to build and grow our community, particularly as esports continues to explode in popularity around the world,” said Ann Hand, CEO of Super League Gaming. “Our goal is to introduce esports to a broader fan base that, until now, was only available to a fraction of the population. With our online and live in-person events, we’re leading the way in bringing amateur gamers into esports in a safe, fun and socially rewarding way.”
