LOS ANGELES, 3 de marzo de 2017 /PRNewswire-HISPANIC PR WIRE/ — En un esfuerzo por dejar siempre una huella positiva en las comunidades en las que está presente, Curacao y su plataforma Curacao Contigo (#CuracaoContigo) han puesto en marcha un muro al que han llamado “Mi Voz Cuenta” con el objetivo de enviar un mensaje de esperanza y optimismo a toda la comunidad inmigrante. Con esta iniciativa, los niños y sus familias podrán expresar a través de dibujos y frases el orgullo que sienten por sus raíces, por todos los sacrificios que han hecho para llegar a este país, y cómo está afectando a sus vidas el clima anti-inmigrante que se vive en estos momentos.
Para participar en la creación del muro “Mi Voz Cuenta” los niños y las familias que vivan en Los Angeles podrán llevar sus dibujos, desde hoy mismo y hasta el día 22 de marzo, a la tienda Curacao en South Gate ubicada en 8618 Garfield Avenue. La otra forma de formar parte de este dinámico proyecto es asistir a los talleres de pintura gratuitos que el reconocido muralista Gushsan impartirá en las siguientes fechas:
- 11 de marzo, de 11 a 1 pm, en la tienda Curacao en South Gate (8618 Garfield Avenue).
- 18 de marzo, de 11 a 1 pm, en la tienda Curacao en South Gate (8618 Garfield Avenue).
“Uno de los principales compromisos de Curacao es y ha sido siempre contribuir al bienestar y desarrollo de los niños y sus familias, y lo hemos hecho con donaciones, becas y otros programas”, afirma Carla Dodds, vicepresidenta ejecutiva de marketing y publicidad de Curacao. “Hoy estamos muy contentos de poder formar parte de sus vidas y ver cómo gracias a este muro nuestra comunidad se une y se expresa libremente”.
Además, y con el objetivo de hacer llegar esta iniciativa al mayor número de niños posible, Curacao invitará a los estudiantes de las escuelas de South Gate y alrededores pertenecientes al Distrito Escolar Unificado de Los Angeles (LAUSD), a participar en los talleres de pintura, y donará $1,000 a la escuela que tenga la mayor participación de niños en la creación del muro “Mi Voz Cuenta”.
La entrega del cheque se realizará durante el evento de develación del muro, cuyas dimensiones estarán entre los 7 x 20 pies, y que tendrá lugar el 23 de marzo en la misma tienda en South Gate. Serán el artista Gushsan y varios de los niños participantes los que harán la develación oficial y explicarán a todos los asistentes, de una forma espontánea y llena de sentimiento, el significado de sus dibujos.
El muro “Mi Voz Cuenta” es una iniciativa que no termina en Los Angeles. Continuará nacionalmente e incluso se llevará a La Casa Blanca para dejar patente la fortaleza de la comunidad latina.

Curacao Honors the Immigrant Community with the “My Voice Matters” (Mi Voz Cuenta) Wall
Renowned muralist Gushsan joins this ‘Curacao Contigo’ initiative to create a wall consisting of drawings made by hundreds of children and their families. The piece will be unveiled at the Curacao store in South Gate on March 23
LOS ANGELES, March 3, 2017 /PRNewswire-HISPANIC PR WIRE/ — In an effort to continually leave a positive imprint within the communities it serves, Curacao and its Curacao Contigo (Curacao with You) platform have created a wall called “Mi Voz Cuenta” (My Voice Matters), to send a message of hope and optimism to the entire immigrant community. With this initiative, children and their families will express, through drawings and phrases, the pride they feel for their roots, for all the sacrifices they have made to live in this country, and how the current anti-immigrant climate is affecting their lives.
To participate in the “Mi Voz Cuenta” wall, children and families living in Los Angeles can bring their drawings to the Curacao store in South Gate located at 8618 Garfield Avenue, starting today until March 22. Another way to be a part of this dynamic project is to attend the free painting workshops instructed by recognized muralist Gushsan on the following dates:
- March 11, from 11 to 1 pm, at the Curacao store in South Gate (8618 Garfield Avenue).
- March 18, from 11 to 1 pm, at the Curacao store in South Gate (8618 Garfield Avenue).

Additionally, to make this initiative reach the largest number of children possible, Curacao and Curacao Contigo (#CuracaoContigo) will invite students from South Gate and nearby schools within the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) to participate in the painting workshops, and will donate $1,000 to the school that brings together the greatest number of children to help create the “Mi Voz Cuenta” wall.
The check donation will be presented during the unveiling event of the wall, which will be approximately 7-by-20 feet, and will take place on March 23 at the same store in South Gate. The artist Gushsan, together with several of the participating children, will present the wall and share the meaning of their drawings with all attendees.
The “Mi Voz Cuenta” wall is an initiative that does not end in Los Angeles. It will have national reach and even travel to The White House, where it will showcase the strength and unity of the Latino community.
