Stonewall Young Democrats Endorse Blanca Rubio for Assembly
– Frontrunner Continues to Gain Momentum and Earn New Support –
BALDWIN PARK, CA – Classroom teacher and school board member Blanca Rubio announced today that her campaign for State Assembly District 48 has received the endorsement of the Stonewall Young Democrats, adding to the frontrunner’s growing momentum and support.
Polling shows Blanca Rubio enters the race for Assembly District 48 with a commanding 22-point lead over challenger Bryan Urias. Rubio begins the campaign with 26 percent of the vote, compared to only 4% for Urias – a six-to-one margin for Rubio over the only other Democrat in the race – with Republican Cory Ellenson in second place with 17%.

Their endorsement adds to the growing support for Rubio’s campaign. In addition to endorsements by the California Latino Legislative Caucus and the Democratic Legislative Women’s Caucus, Rubio has recently earned the support of Latinas Lead California and Planned Parenthood Advocacy Project Los Angeles County as her campaign continues to gain momentum and further solidifies it’s frontrunner status.

Blanca Rubio is a classroom teacher, local school board member, and mother, who has dedicated her life to improving our schools, strengthening our communities, and giving children and working families the tools to succeed.
The daughter of a factory worker and housekeeper, Blanca Rubio learned the values of hard work, fairness, and a good education at a young age. Born in Juarez, Mexico, Blanca came to the United States with her parents at a young age in pursuit of a better quality of life and new opportunity. She understands first hand the struggles that immigrant and working families face because she lived them.
Those experiences have shaped Blanca’s life and inspired her to dedicate herself to public service. Blanca attended public schools and graduated from Azusa Pacific University where she earned a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration and later earned a Masters Degree in Education with a Multiple Subject Teaching Credential.
A classroom teacher and educator for 15 years, Blanca has taught kindergarten, first grade and fourth grade. In 2003, Blanca was elected to the Baldwin Park Unified School District Board of Education, serving as President and Vice President of the board twice.
As a member of the Baldwin Park School Board, Blanca helped lead successful efforts to improve academic standards in the classroom and put more children on the path to college or a good career. During her tenure, student test scores have consistently improved and the graduation rate is at an all-time high with 96% of all seniors graduating.
Blanca is running to succeed termed out Assemblymember Roger Hernandez in the 48th Assembly District. The district covers the Cities of West Covina, Glendora, Baldwin Park, Covina, Azusa, El Monte, Duarte, Bradbury, Irwindale, Monrovia and un-incorporated areas of Valinda, Charter Oak, Ramona, Bassett, East Arcadia, Citrus and Royal Oaks.
