Introducing the National Tourism Policy, the President, Enrique Peña Nieto, provided that the actions of the Federal Government on tourism will be doomed to generate a comprehensive security environment and confidence for travelers in the country.

He stressed that Mexico is ready to upgrade and reposition its tourism industry globally. “It is time to consolidate and build on the tourism capital with which we already have”, and focus on the destinations that we have to modernize and revitalize them, he said. “This will be the best way to contribute to social and economic development of our country.”
The President, Enrique Peña Nieto, said today that the country should take the privilege and status that has tourist potential “for the whole world to know Mexico and we have it here, let the world come to our country.” He noted that based on a state policy that breaks inertia, “we will open Mexico to the world, and the world is and come to Mexico.”
He emphasized that the Government of the Republic tourism is a priority strategic sector for national development. The President declared said the National Tourism Policy is based primarily on four guidelines: first, ordering and processing sector: the institutional framework will be restructured to better decision making and effective implementation of the various programs to boost tourism. To coordinate government efforts, mandated the creation of a Tourism Cabinet, to be headed by the President of the Republic. “We want to achieve full coordination with the governors and the Head of Government of the Federal District to align the policy of the Federal Government with the efforts of the various states of the country,” he said.
The second guideline is innovation and competitiveness: Mexico is much more than sun and beach places, diversification of tourist products is key to leveraging our many riches and compete in the global era. So he said, “we specialize in six segments: sun and beach tourism, cultural tourism, ecotourism and adventure tourism, health tourism, sports tourism and special interest tourism or luxury.” To ensure the quality of tourist services will materialize the National Tourism Certification System “because to be successful you have to compete with the quality of services offered by our country.”
He announced that he instructed the Ministries of Tourism and Economics to develop a competitiveness agenda for each of the different tourist destinations the country has.
