The effort kicks off with the Innovation Economy Expo on May 9, 2013
RIVERSIDE, Calif. – From sole proprietors to large international organizations, a rising number of business leaders, educators and policymakers from around the world are joining together in an unprecedented movement designed to cut a competitive edge for innovative high-growth businesses in the global marketplace.
These key business leaders, spanning multiple continents, are forming a global collaboration platform that will debut with the Innovation Economy Expo, the first step in creating a stakeholder-driven, international stage for the commercialization of innovative technologies, products and services, and to promote the economic and social benefits of high-growth business success worldwide.
“The vast majority of new wealth, new jobs and new prosperity created in the world today will come from those who choose to work together to advance the success of innovative high-growth businesses,” said Mario Thomas, a member of the Innovation Economy Expo advisory committee and founding chairman of the International Commercialization Alliance, a Canada-based consortium of representatives from 18 countries.
The Innovation Economy Expo, to be held May 9, 2013 at the OntarioConvention Center in Southern California, focuses on collaboration and spotlights the commercialization of international innovations, cutting edge business models and emerging global market opportunities.
The goals of this growing international effort are:
- To promote a culture of collaboration by linking innovators and entrepreneurs with those who provide the services and resources they need for growth.
- To connect educators and students with businesses to advance the commercialization of innovative research and technologies, as well as to help education stay in step with the needs of an ever-changing global business environment.
- To engage policy-makers in a dialogue on the economic and social benefits of high-growth business success and to promote regulations to advance free trade and global economic growth.

“None of us can be an expert on all of it, but by focusing on what we are good at and working together, we can help create a tremendous number of new business opportunities for people around the world,” said Innovation Economy Expo advisory committee member Sheri Lejman, a partner of the Alternative Investment Practice at Marcum LLP, a public accounting and advisory firm with 23 offices in five countries.
“Collaboration is what transforms innovations into successful high-growth businesses,” she said. “It increases the probability of business success and is what drives real economic change in the world.”
