San Diego – (Aug. 20, 2012) – The Century Club of San Diego, a 501(c) (3) charitable organization and host of the PGA TOUR’s Farmers Insurance Open, will hold a luncheon at noon on Wednesday Aug. 22 at the Marriott Del Mar to distribute the balance of $2 million generated from the 2012 Farmers Insurance Open. More than 200 local charities will benefit from the money generated, a $300,000 increase over the 2011 Tournament total. Since 1968 the Century Club of San Diego has generated more than $24 million for San Diego charities through its combined programs.

This year’s recipients include 88 high schools and 25 charitable organizations who participated in the Century Club’s annual Support our Schools (SOS) and Chip in for Charity programs. The SOS program, presented by US Bank, and the Chip In for Charity program, presented by ResMed, allows local schools and charities to sell specially discounted Farmers Insurance Open any-day tickets and keep 75% of each sale.

The 2012 Tournament generated $273,956 for schools participating in the SOS program. Since its inception, the program has generated nearly $7.5 million for San Diego schools. Through the SOS program, local schools have invested in the enhancement of locker rooms, athletic facilities, sports uniforms, band equipment and various extracurricular programs that may have otherwise suffered due to budget cuts across the region.

During the ceremony, San Dieguito High School will be recognized for surpassing the $100,000 lifetime sales goal. In addition, SOS sponsor US Bank will present their “Dream Suite,” affording one school the opportunity to enjoy a night in a suite at a 2012 San Diego Padres home game.

The Century Club will also present checks totaling $85,000 to several military charities, including Wounded Warrior Project, Naval Special Warfare Foundation and Semper Fi Fund.
