The Madring is situated around the IFEMA convention center on the outskirts of Madrid, with the paddock making use of some of the exhibition halls on the grounds.
Some of the teams have their engineering trucks housed inside, while all of their main hospitality motorhomes are located outside.
The organizers of the race did want to have the entire paddock located inside the halls, but the teams pushed back on this idea. They still wanted to bring their full hospitality units, used for all the races in Europe, which would not have fit inside the building.
This does mean that some teams have a very long walk between their hospitalities — where the drivers’ prep rooms are located — and the engineering units where the technical meetings and debriefs are held.
Ordinarily, they’re opposite one another and a few meters apart in the paddock. McLaren, for example, has a good five-minute walk to get from A to B here.
