Just like Brock Purdy, Justin Herbert will get the start for the Los Angeles Chargers tonight after not playing in the team’s preseason opener against the Houston Texans.
Herbert started last season on an MVP-caliber pace, but insurmountable injuries along the Chargers’ offensive line derailed the team’s season and led to the 28-year-old being sacked a whopping 54 times. Playing through a broken hand at one point, Herbert still threw for 3,727 yards with 26 touchdowns and 13 interceptions while rushing for a career-high 498 yards.
His season ended in lackluster fashion, though, throwing for just 159 yards in Los Angeles’ wild-card loss to the New England Patriots.
