SAN FRANCISCO – The Milwaukee Brewers are going to be without one of their top run producers for a while.
The team announced on Tuesday, July 28 that first baseman-outfielder Jake Bauers suffered a fracture in his right big toe after fouling a ball off of it in Monday’s 3-0 shutout loss to the San Francisco Giants with further imaging ultimately determining the length of time the 30-year-old will miss as a result.

There was no corresponding roster move immediately announced and with the Brewers being on the West Coast it’s unlikely a replacement would be able to reach San Francisco until Wednesday, when the teams wrap up their three-game series with a matinee matchup.
Bauers is in the midst of a breakout season in which he’s hitting .265 with 18 home runs and 60 runs batted in with an OPS of .856 over 97 games.
His 18 homers and .856 OPS both lead the Brewers while his 60 RBI rank second to Brice Turang’s 62.
His loss leaves the Brewers short in depth for the time being at both first base and in the outfield.
