It’s a season of firsts for Troy baseball, some more inauspicious than others. First appearance in super regionals. First College World Series appearance. And on a broader scale, first 30-loss team to make the College World Series.
Troy competed in the brutal Sun Belt, headlined by Hattiesburg Regional hosts Southern Miss. Though the Golden Eagles were bounced without winning a game, the Trojans were able to survive Gainesville by way of 26 runs over two games against the Gators to make it out of the loser’s bracket and get to supers. From there, they drubbed Little Rock by a combined score of 19-4 as super regional hosts.

By now, CWS fans have likely heard it mentioned that Troy, which hosted a super regional for the first time ever this year, is in Alabama. But where exactly is it? Here’s what to know of the last team representing The Yellowhammer State in Omaha.
Where is Troy University?
Troy is fittingly located in Troy, Alabama, a Pike County town in Alabama with a population of about 18,000, per the 2020 census. Located in the southeastern part of the state, it’s about a two hour and 40 minute drive southeast of Tuscaloosa, where Alabama — which was eliminated by Texas June 15 — is located.
What conference does Troy play in
Troy plays in the Sun Belt, which had five teams in the Men’s NCAA Baseball Tournament this year. Southern Miss, Coastal Carolina, Texas State, and Louisiana all made the tournament alongside the Trojans, though they were the only team to make it out of regionals.
