Albion College, a NCAA Division III football team located in south Michigan, has fired head coach Travis Rundle, four games into his fourth season, school officials announced on Monday, Sept. 28.
Rundle, who graduated from Albion College in 2002, was a four-year letterman, a member of three Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) championship teams and set number of single-season passing records.

He took over as head coach for the Britons in 2023 and had an overall record of 17-17 (9-12 MIAA).
Craig Rundle, Travis’ father, is Albion’s winningest football coach. He led the Britons for 21 seasons, winning 120 games and seven MIAA championships.
Rundle and his father were inducted into the Albion Athletics Hall of Fame in 2024.
The midseason decision to fire him comes after a second consecutive shutout loss to Hope College on Saturday, Sept. 26 in Holland.
In the 63-0 loss Saturday, the Britons gained only 63 total yards to Hope’s 513. The game was Hope’s largest victory in a MIAA opener since beating Kalamazoo College, 67-0, in 2021.

Albion also dropped games against Illinois Wesleyan, Wheaton College and Rose-Hulman.
Stephen Wasil, the current offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach, has been named interim head coach through the end of the season.
“We are grateful to Coach Wasil for agreeing to take on this interim role through at the season’s midpoint and through the remainder of the 2026 season,” athletic director Jennifer Rushton said in a statement. “I know Coach Wasil shares our desire to return the program to its winning ways, while providing the best possible experience on and off the field for members of our football team during this period of transition.”
Wasil is in his 20th year with the Britons. He joined the program in 2006 as a wide receivers coach. He has been an offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach since 2019.

Additionally, he majored in physical education at Albion College and later earned a master’s in athletic administration from Western Kentucky University.
