After knocking off the No. 1 team which resulted in two weeks at the top of the AP Poll, going undefeated in nonconference and opening SEC play with a road win, Texas football deserves a break.
With a 20-17 win over Tennessee, the Longhorns enter their bye week.

No. 1 Texas (4-0, 1-0) escaped No. 14 Tennessee 20-17 thanks to a Jelani McDonald pass breakup on a Hail Mary pass. With one of its six games against preseason-ranked conference opponents out of the way, the Longhorns will take the weekend off to prepare for its next game.

Does Texas play this week?
Nope.
Last season, the Longhorns had two “open” weeks, more commonly know as bye weeks, but they only have one this season. Texas has eight games left on the schedule and three of them are true road games.

But Texas will be back Oct. 10 in Dallas for its annual Red River Rivalry matchup against Oklahoma. Last year, the Longhorns came out on top 23-6. After being ranked No. 10 in the preseason poll, Oklahoma is is 2-2 and isn’t in the top 25.
