New York, NY, June 14, 2022—Americas Society announces its 2022 Gold Medal recipients: Pfizer CEO Albert Bourla and businessman Marcelo Claure.
Carlos Murillo, Regional President of Pfizer Latin America was also present.
Guests from the worlds of business, philanthropy, government, diplomacy and the arts in the Americas attended the organization’s Spring Party 2022 at Cipriani 25 Broadway in New York City on June 13.
“It is an honor to award the Americas Society Gold Medal to two outstanding and inspiring individuals,” said Susan Segal, president and CEO of the Americas Society/Council of the Americas (AS/COA). “The Gold Medal, the highest honor we bestow, is awarded to those individuals who have made a real impact in the hemisphere. Our honorees tonight certainly epitomize the spirit of the award.”
AS/COA President Andrés Gluski presented the Gold Medal to Albert Bourla, highlighting his work in transforming Pfizer into a more innovative company and fostering a culture in which people and science can thrive. “We honor Dr. Bourla tonight for his extraordinary leadership during the global pandemic and recognize Pfizer’s critical role in saving the lives of countless people around the world,” Gluski said.
“I feel honored to receive this award together with a tremendous leader, Marcelo Claure”, said Albert Bourla upon receiving the award. “The role that companies and their leaders play in society has grown exponentially. We are no longer responsible only for the final result, but for having a tangible impact on society.
