More than 1,000 people have registered to attend the event in the South Los Angeles. Supervisor Ridley-Thomas, co-chair of the Governor’s Council of Regional Advisors and founder of the Empowerment Congress, will deliver the keynote speech.
Los Angeles City Council President Nury Martinez; State Assembly Members Mike Gipson, Autumn Burke and Miguel Santiago; and California State Association of Counties President Lisa Bartlett will also address the crowd.
The Empowerment Congress Summit is part of the national observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Weekend.
