Irvine Child Care Project Board Seeks New Member-At-Large

IRVINE, Calif. (June 10, 2019): The City of Irvine is accepting applications for one vacant volunteer position on the Irvine Child Care Project Board. Established in 1984, the Irvine Child Care Project is a joint powers agreement between the Irvine Unified School District and the City of Irvine, overseen by the Irvine Child Care Project Board of Directors. The mission of the Irvine Child Care Project is to provide quality, affordable, school-age child care through community-based, nonprofit organizations located on elementary school sites for children who reside in Irvine or are enrolled in the Irvine Unified School District.

The Irvine Child Care Project Board is responsible for development, implementation, and oversight of the operating budget for the Irvine Child Care Project. The board is comprised of two members appointed by the governing board of each of the parties to the joint powers agreement, and one member interested in child care appointed by the remaining board members.

This recruitment is to fill a special term of office for September 2019 through January 2020. Applicants must not have children enrolled in an Irvine Child Care Project child care program during their entire time of appointment. Board meetings are held the second Monday of select months (at least seven times a year) from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. at Irvine Civic Center or other Irvine locations.
