County offices to close on Wednesday, December 5; emergency and essential services will continue

County Honors Memory of President George H.W. Bush
With 
Day of Mourning

The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors has declared Wednesday, December 5, as a Day of Mourning in memory of President George H. W. Bush.

The Board voted unanimously to approve a motion by Board Chair Janice Hahn, encouraging County residents to pay tribute to the late President.

County offices will be closed. Emergency and essential services (Sheriff, Fire, emergency operations including storm-related response, hospitals and clinics) will continue to operate,  along with other work deemed critical by County department heads, such as urgent communicable disease investigations and urgent inspectional services.

Department of Public Works recovery efforts for the burn area will continue, and property owners will be able to request engineering advice and seek other recovery-related services on Wednesday, by calling 800-675-4357 (HELP).

Individual departments will post specific opening and closing information on their websites.

Federal offices will also be closed on Wednesday, following President Trump’s declaration of a National Day of Mourning. California Gov. Jerry Brown has ordered that Capitol flags be flown at half-staff.
